  • I love seeing clients in person, because human to human connection is undeniably powerful. I am also finding it to be a unique and impactful experience connecting with people from their own comfort space while wrapped in blankets, and holding their favourite mug of tea. I have virtually met many cats, dogs, rats, and even a lizard! Technology has allowed for a new type of connection that is not the same, just different. Many of my clients choose a combination of online and in person sessions. You can read about the effectiveness of virtual therapy here:

I am happy to see you in whatever mode you feel most comfortable.

  • It is really important that the counsellor you choose to work with is a good fit for you. For this reason, I offer a free 15 min consultation to any new potential clients. In this consultation, you can expect to be able to ask me any questions you might have about the way I work and I will ask you some questions about what you are looking for. If you like, you can then book an initial session.B To set up a consultation appointment, you can either email me or book directly into my calendar. Here is the link: Online Booking

  • It is very important that you find a counsellor that is a good fit for you. I welcome you to book a free 15 min consultation before you commit to a session with me. It is my hope that this consultation will give you a sense of who I am and how I work. If you determine at any point that my approach is not suited to your needs, I would be very happy to refer you to another counsellor who might be a good fit for you. No awkwardness!

A strong therapeutic connection is at the heart of successful therapy. I truly want the best for you and your counselling journey.

  • When a counsellor seeks out registration from the BCACC (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors), we must meet all the requirements to do so. This means that we must have graduated with a Masters in Counselling from an accredited university with the appropriate coursework. We must also meet additional requirements through the Association such as a minimum of 200 counselling hours with clients and also supervision hours from a more experienced counsellor.

You can see the requirements for registration here: BCACC Registration Requirements

  • It is not uncommon to feel nervous excited, anxious, or hesitant before staring counselling. Opening up and sharing can feel intimidating. In the first initial session with any counsellor, time will be spent going over some logistical topics such as confidentiality and policies, and then usually, time will also be spent talking about your history, and what prompted the decision to seek out counselling. As a counsellor, my goal in this initial session is to connect with you and create a safe space to start our work together. I will ask you at the end of our session if you would like to book a subsequent session or book in online.

There is nothing you need to do to prepare for this session except bring your authentic self to see me.

  • Short answer no/depends. An important part of counselling is creating a safe and trusting space to reveal and share thus respecting confidentiality is an important part of that (at all ages). Rest assured, if your child discloses any threat or harm or abuse, I am required to get them outside supports.

If you child, in private consultation with me, consents to me speaking with you about parts our sessions, I am happy to do so. I am also happy to provide ideas, tools, resources that I think might be helpful for you to support your child’s counselling journey.

  • A lot of extended medical plans will cover the cost of counselling with an RCC in part or in full. You will need to look into the coverage provided to you in your plan.
